Surviving in the wilderness really isn't all it's cracked up to be. After being gone for a year, John Dory returns to the Troll Tree to find it completely empty. Save for one troll: His baby brother, Branch. Thinking the trolls and the rest of his family dead, he sets off once again to the Neverglade Trail, this time, with his baby brother in tow. Fueled by fear, guilt, and voices from the past he just can't seem to escape, he wonders if he made the right decision. But he promised his brother he would never leave him again. So he wouldn't. Besides, he was never known for his great decisions anyways. (Based on the song "Great Decisions" by Judah & the Lion) ... Or... I needed to write more John Dory and Branch ANGST, so here's my rewrite of canon, where John Dory goes back and raises Branch out in the wilderness, and other subsequent shenanigans. Let's see how this goes, shall we? Now that they were staying with Branch for a while it was becoming increasingly clear that Branch had grown in a lot of different ways since they were kids. Least of all with his oldest, most irritating brother, John Dory. But as time goes on and the clock ticks down to when they all go their separate ways again, he discovers he's not the only one struggling to move on from the past....Or, I need somewhere to write about Trolls, so enjoy an angsty, fluffy, and wild story about Branch and John Dory, because I can.

Branch wasn’t as tactile compared to other trolls. Far from it. Touch was something he was still relatively new to, and it was something he seldom initiated himself. Despite that, it didn’t stop those around him to come to his side, sneaking in gentle touches whenever they could, all while respecting his boundaries and not pushing too much. It became a silent game, of who could hold him, ruffle his hair and just hang around him the longest until he’d eventually push them away without any real bite.or,five times Branch received loving gestures and pulled away, and the one time he just melted into it
