The calamity has been defeated and the Champions are revived on a pure white full moon. Everything is back to how it was, except not really. One hundred years has taken its toll on Hyrule- and where has the hero gone? Revali is sent on a quest to find Link (but not without a lot of angry squawking about it). He travels the lengths of Hyrule with nothing to go on other than a full library of photos the hero had left in Zelda's sheikah plate. As he journeys though, the question of 'where is Link' slowly transforms to 'who is Link?' because this grinning boy in the pictures surely cannot be the same stoic brick wall they all once knew. As extraordinarily talented as he is, he finds him all too fast and the questions only multiply from there.

It turns out that the death of the Calamity doesn't prevent more things from falling apart. A year after the fall of Calamity Ganon, eighteen year old Link goes back in time to before the end of the world, before the fall of Hyrule, before he ever even drew his sword, and starts to fix things before they can go wrong. It takes a while before he realizes he might be able to regain pieces of himself, too.

"These reports of black-blooded monsters are a grave concern. Link, I implore you to leave my side, if only to look into this matter on my behalf. I'll stay here so you don't worry, and I'll do all I can to assist you. Please, be careful." Zelda had requested his assistance, so Link set out to learn what he could to about these strange new threats. Encountering heroes from the past was a surprise, but it gave him hope to have friends by his side. He did his best to hold onto that hope, but that is harder than it should be when his first impression isn’t all that great. When all is said and done, Link - Wild - must decide if the Heroes of the Forgotten Past are worth opening up to.

An expansion of canon: a look at why the memories might have happened where and when they occurred (with one slight change in order) and an attempt to fill-in the events and conversations alluded to by diary entries and conversations in-game. "You were a comfort to her," in particular, needed to be expanded upon, I thought. Begins shortly before the first journal entry in Zelda's diary, and continues to the immediate aftermath of the last memory. First person: Zelda's perspective *

With no memories, no shrines beyond the Great Plateau, and only the weapons he could scavenge along the way, somehow, Link defeated Calamity Ganon just three days after the voice of the Princess woke him from his sleep. The battle leaves him wounded, but alive, and miraculously, the Champions awaken in their Divine Beasts, unharmed. At first, it seems that all will settle itself in an end come far quicker than anyone could have imagined. Then Link disappears of his own accord, and no one, not even his former closest friends can find him. Perhaps too burdened by a past he cannot drag back from the void, or too smothered by the reality of that past come back to life, Link runs, and disappears into the wild, unfamiliar Hyrule, where his former friends cannot hope to seek him out.Except one, of course, who isn’t foolish enough to expect the knight of the past to ever emerge from the broken boy who beat the Calamity back so fiercely out of guilt.

Champion Link, the beloved and respected leader of Hyrule Kingdom, had a problem. Technically, he had eight problems, all of which were wandering around the Lost Woods looking very out of place. Had he known that another Journey would come looking for him, he would've made preparations. Now, a ghost among the living, he had to leave the kingdom he spent so long revitalizing and travel with eight incarnations of the Hero's spirit. Luckily, he wouldn't be going alone.Book 2 of A Hero's Spirit. This one is Linked Universe.

“Guardians?” Sky said, blanching. Kish nodded fiercely, waving his hand around wildly as he spoke. “Those things are crazy. Stories say the hero got taken down all those years ago by a bunch of them while he was protecting the princess at the Battle of Fort Hateno. I wouldn’t dare go anywhere near one of them.” Time paled.“The hero died?” Four spoke up, vocalizing everybody’s thoughts. Kish sent them a strange look and then laughed.“Of course!” The man said between his laughter, as if it were the funniest joke he’d ever heard. “Even if he survived the Calamity, he would’ve died a while ago. It’s been one hundred years after all.”--Wild is exhausted. He's taken way too many hits during the fight and he just wants to shoot several arrows into this stupid giant pig until it explodes. He wants to clasp his hands over Zelda's and watch Farosh from the Bridge of Hylia. He wants to lay down and sleep for another 100 years. He wants a break. Unfortunately, a band of eight heroes would rather let him do anything but rest, and apparently, his journey's end is only the beginning to another.10/2/21: CHECK NOTES FOR DETAILS ON FUTURE UPDATES. “I’m afraid I won’t be the most thrilling company,” Zelda says curtly. “In fact, I’d like to be disturbed as little as possible if it’s all the same to—” Link suddenly begins making a series of quick motions with his hands—fingers flitting at his lips, wrists crossed and then swept outwards. His expression is shy and downcast. Zelda stares at the display. “Oh, did I not mention?” Daruk exclaims. "The little guy doesn’t talk!” Or: Link and Zelda, except it's the best storyline in Love Actually.

The shrine of resurrection took everything. Everything Link had, and knew, and was. (All he has is the noise in his head. But none of it makes any sense, and he'd rather they were silent more often than not.)

Based on Kleric’s video; “10 ways Link can make it up to that divine beast on his own”, We follow Link in his endeavours to prove to Revali how far spite can really take a man. “Maybe we should just settle this one on one—But where…? Oh, I know...! How about up there?!” Revali pointed his wing towards the ship parading the skies. Vah Medoh gleams in the distance. He spat at him with malice. “Oh, you must pardon me—I forgot you have no way of making it up to that Divine Beast on your own!” Whatever Revali said after fell onto deaf ears. That Pompous Rito needed to learn what flightless really meant, if he truly wanted a battle in the skies, Link would give him just that. There was a reason he was considered Hylia's chosen. It was not his merit within combat that gifted him the title of hero but his fearless, albeit reckless, courage, and unfortunately, Link did not understand what limits were. His courageous spirit that possessed him had travelled through time, traversed the dark dimensions between, and defeated the demon known to all as Ganon however many times as needed. How bad could a little flight up an oversized mechanical Cucco be? CH13 delayed: 28/08/25

Realizing that the Champions were going to fall, Link uses the Master Sword to seal the darkness and buy Zelda time to awaken her powers. Now Zelda, Revali, and the other Champions must figure out how to free the Divine Beasts and defeat Calamity Ganon without the Legendary Hero or the Master Sword.
