It was a handsome and well-loved book. Bastian's stout fingers held the slim book with the care he reserved for his mother's photograph and the few precious keepsakes she left behind. A passionate and foreboding red possessively covered the pages. Blackened roses and thorns twisted framing the cover in shapes that looked simplistic at first, but Bastian lost himself in them like a Celtic knot if he regarded them for too long. "The LABYRINTH" was written in gold. Looking at the words made Bastian recall Moon Child's eyes and how they shimmered beneath the gentle light of the Night Forest.
