They don't know about the other dead Champions, that he slept for a hundred years and lost his memories, that he failed. And frankly, he's not sure if he wants to tell them. The other Heroes of Courage would be ashamed he shared the Hero's Spirit with them, they would hate him for how he let down his kingdom and friends. Of course, Wild might not get a chance to hide his secrets as the Chain travels through his Hyrule.

Stories say the hero got taken down all those years ago by a bunch of them while he was protecting the princess at the Battle of Fort Hateno. I wouldn’t dare go anywhere near one of them.” Time paled.“The hero died?” Four spoke up, vocalizing everybody’s thoughts. Kish sent them a strange look and then laughed.“Of course!” The man said between his laughter, as if it were the funniest joke he’d ever heard. “Even if he survived the Calamity, he would’ve died a while ago. It’s been one hundred years after all.”--Wild is exhausted. He's taken way too many hits during the fight and he just wants to shoot several arrows into this stupid giant pig until it explodes. He wants to clasp his hands over Zelda's and watch Farosh from the Bridge of Hylia. He wants to lay down and sleep for another 100 years. He wants a break. Dogs were once wolves. Transformed over time by heavy Hylian hands, domestication blunted their fangs and soothed their wild nature. They became docile, and unwilling to speak out. Wild wasn't a dog, but that didn't mean the metaphor affected him any less. After a lifetime of servitude and silence, it was only natural that his sharp edges had been smoothed, his spirit dimmed. Eight other heroes won't change his life so quick, but they can certainly nudge him in the right direction. Or, another chain meets Wild fic, but Wild is much less 'wild'.
