Gali looked down at the being on the table at her waist. There was a knife nearby. Her hand grabbed it. She felt hot, and then cold. She didn't think about it, because she knew that if she did, she would lose track of the place in her head where she has to go to do this. That place is so familiar now. The first time, that place was new: a riptide trying to tear her in half, bringing her somewhere she never went before. A short story in my Toa Mata Hagah AU about how Gali (a floodtide trying to drown everything except the flame beside her) got to be where she is when Kopaka finds her, and how Antroz (an amalgam of his own hatred and despair, hiding behind self-importance) pushed her there.
