Circuit Breaker

by liketolaugh

Those like you, those who share the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero, they are eternally bound to this curse. An incarnation of my hatred shall ever follow your kind, dooming them to wander a blood-soaked sea of darkness for all time. This is the curse that has bound Link's soul to Zelda's bloodline, to Hyrule, and to malice for thousands of years. It is through this curse that he is born again, and again, and again, the same soul worn down into something harder and more serious with every passing generation. With every evil that Link defeats, he grows wearier and more determined, and by all rights that should be the end of it.Then a portal through time opens, from one Master Sword chamber to another. And Ocarina meets another Link for the first time.Four years later, Wild's portal finally opens, and as a collective they decide that this curse needs to be cut off... before it gets any worse than it had for Wild.

Branded

by embyrinitalics

Someone with a brand like his had no business getting so attached to a nice girl like her. Even if her eyes were the color of the Grasslands in spring, and her laughter was like summer wind, and her touch on his bare shoulder made him see fairylights. He remembered with remorse the first time he saw her on the wharf, tossing crumbs onto the rolling sea for the gulls, and how his head had snapped her way a second time, eyes too wide. Remorse, and a bit of a smile.
