Jumping into the alien portal spitting out the giant death machines they'd been fighting for the last two decades wasn't really a great idea after all. But they were out of passive options, so he'd said all his goodbyes, made the government promise to put his death to good use if he didn't come back, and sent it. Of all the things, ending up stranded in a desert and blindly following a group of sinfully rich alien pilots (because they definitely didn't speak any Earthen language) was not one he had planned for. At least they also seemed to be dealing with the same giant evil alien problem as Earth.
