Julian doesn't think about it much these days. Why should he, when it's been so long? But when he does, if he does, well—he considers it part and parcel of Garak, that's all. Disconcerting at first, a little invasive. Awfully close to a line but not quite crossing it, and leaving Julian with absolutely no idea what he's meant to do in response. Garak in microcosm, summarized in a single unexpected gesture.(Or: Julian has always thought Garak just had a weird little habit. Until another Cardassian does the same thing to him, and seems to imbue the gesture with a meaning Julian really had not anticipated.)

Sequel to "When You Go Away." Julian's research project in speculative reproductive xenobiology is turning out to be a little more complicated than he'd hoped... Silly and fun and very light. Highlights: second-season Bashir; flirtatious, fascinated Garak; Cardassian manners; lack of sleep; too much coffee; when when when can I see him again?? Note: this is a sequel, but can easily be read on its own.

Julian has no soulmark. He knows what that must mean, and he's learned to accept it. Meeting Garak, getting to know him, is almost enough to make him think—but it's not possible. Garak must have a soulmate, and there's simply no way it could be Julian. Right? (Or: five times Julian thought he was alone, plus the time he realized he'd been wrong all along.)

When Garak comes back from a business trip, he makes an absolutely delightful discovery: Doctor Bashir, whom he was beginning to think of as just another predictable, boring human, is not who -or rather what- everyone thought he was. (Set right after "Doctor Bashir, I Presume".)

Tari was fortunate to be hired as Councilor Garak's housekeeper. He treats her well, the workload is relatively light, and most of all she's warm. Then the councilor brings home a human lover who might just ruin everything.

Bashir definitely isn't dating Garak. Almost certainly. Probably.
