The only survivor was the Bradbury's daughter, Laudna. Vex'ahlia, dealing with her boyfriend's death, takes two-year-old Laudna rather than let her go into the foster system. Its been three years and today is Laudna's first day of Kindergarten and Vex is kind of freaking out about it. She hopes that whoever Laudna's teacher is, she knows what she's doing. Or Vex has to take her goddaughter Laudna in for her first day of school where she meets her teacher, Ms. Keyleth.
