It's not even really a taboo to ask someone about their words, but people do generally tend to keep them covered to avoid weird soulmate scammers and trolls. Personally? Shiro couldn't really care much less. Of course he wants to meet his soulmate someday, storybook love like that is every little kid's dream, but he already knows that all the preparation in the world isn't going to help him see this one coming.
