Due to miscommunication, Vaan disappears unknowingly to everyone. Two years later, after having his pride successfully dented, Balthier sets out to find him together with Fran. Their leads are few and when not even Penelo knows where he is, all eyes turn to… Tomaj…?—They’re led into a small room, not a full minute passes before the door opens and a dishevelled captain with the look of a crazed Chocobo enters the room.“Balthier, Fran. What has happened?”Of course, Basch, ever worried, would think the worst. Given, they roused the poor man in the middle of the night; a bit of leeway must be given. Meanwhile the maid scampers aside, leaving Larsa the clear view of his knight and the two sky pirates loitering at the sidelines. He seems unfazed by their presence. He takes one look, a long one around the room, and says:"What happened? Please, no war, spare me."

The past of a hero is often clouded in mystery. For no one cares for a hero before they had either fame or achievements to go with their names. These heroes past were clouded with the fog of mystery so thick, there was no light at the end of the tunnel in knowing of their true past. Soon they will be faced with challenges and responsibilities of saving another world and facing the past they worked so hard to ensure would never come to light. Or perhaps they simply never wanted to confront their past. After all...all heroes have their reasons for everything...even secrets in which could destroy them and the careful defenses those who tried to protect them. Along the way eight unwilling participants in their journey come along, helping them discover that sometime facing parts of the past that they had hidden away is important for moving on and even finding out the truth that they all seek.
