Lark doesn't know a lot of things. He doesn't know why he should care what day of the week it is, or why when he's supposed to do something matters as long as it gets done. What he DOES understand, however, is straight-up bloodsport.Henry knows a lot of things. He knows why some rocks form a certain way, and why he likes Birkenstocks more than other shoes. What he DOESN'T understand, however, is Lark.

Halfway through the school year, a new kid joins the school. Lark has them marked as an enemy from day one and is determined to bring them down, no matter what it takes. The other sons aren’t sure what Lark is feeling is ‘hate’, but he can’t feel anything but contempt for everyone but his family, right?// Don’t worry about this being ‘part three’ of the series, there’s no real reason to read the other stuff it’s just about the connected universe, luv //

“Are you using protection?”“Father!” Lark jolted up in an instant, jaw dropping. A little too loud, he shot back, “I’m not having sex with Nicky!”On the other side of the Odyssey, the campfire quieted for a moment. Lark could feel his face burn red and he covered it with both hands, ignoring the way his dad snickered. As the talking resumed in the distance, Lark could feel his dad ruffle his hair and he batted the hand away.“You are ruining my life,” he whined and his dad pulled his hand away, giving him one last pat on the shoulder instead. “You are throwing me into an endless sea of agony and misery that I will never be able to pull myself from, Father.”“Now you’re just sounding like Grant.”“Oh God, don’t say that.” Lark scrunched up in his face, earning another laugh from his dad as he dropped his over-dramatic speech pattern.-Lark had a bad habit of sitting in the dark and smoking with Nicky instead of joining the family campfire. He was well aware that it made his dad worry. He wasn't as sure if he cared about that or not.

Three brief insights into the psyches of Lark and Sparrow before they enter the Forgotten Realms.orI, a tired idiot who hasn't written anything in years, decide that if Anthony Burch refuses to give me the backstory that I crave, I'll just pull something straight out of the dumpster fire I call a brain and post it for the world to see and judge me with.

To get rid of the Doodler, they needed to be radical. Code Purple was that radical plan, and it had worked. For a while. It just needed to work again. Which it would. Lark was convinced that it would. You’re either with us or against us, Nicky.Welp. Guess that by that infallible logic, I’m against you. Sorry, guys.Lark was sorry, too.But feeling sorry had never been too big of an issue for him.~Lark and Nick spend one last night together before shit hits the fan.

He was comfortable in his masculinity. He was comfortable with himself. But there was something spinning inside him that he didn't understand and looking at it too long might render it real, might bring it to life, might give it name.

Lark realizes that Normal didn’t know he could be sad.Lark feels like a windowpane hit with a rock at 100 miles an hour.--Normal is having hard time after saving the world and goes to his similarly f-ed up uncle to commiserate.

“I don’t… Lark, I can’t wear a dress to prom. People will laugh at me again.”Sparrow ignored the way that their father deflated at that, something tired and concerned settling across his face. Lark just seemed pissed, putting both of his hands onto the dresses and pushing them back into Sparrow’s chest.“I wouldn’t let them,” Lark replied, a promise clear in his voice. Their father looked both reassured and more stressed. “You like looking beautiful. Can we not match with a suit and dress? It’s not as if you have a girlfriend to match with instead. You would look prettier than her anyways.”“At least try them on, little bird,” Father added and at the childhood pet name, Sparrow crumbled. “If you don’t like them, we’ll go with the suit.”“Alright.”-Sparrow liked being a boy, a man, whichever he was at seventeen. He just didn't like the thought of being handsome. That didn't make much sense, though, even if his brother and his father loved him enough to steamroll him over on the matter.
