Bernie and Louis entered through the ‘runway’ double doors and, settling down on their usual chairs in the common corner, Louis was just about to suggest a game of snakes and ladders when Commander Hurst burst through the doors from the corridor and ran through the Mess, disappearing out the runway doors.-or-When a mysterious aeroplane touches down on Mecrenris Island with engine trouble, all is not as it seems, and soon events begin to spiral. However, help is here in the form of Bernie Cosby, a teenage pilot, and Louis Merrel, a teenage mechanic, who will do their all to resolve the mystery before everything gets out of control...Featuring four illustrations and a cover by the brilliant @macaronimood (Tumblr)!(A kind of Biggles-esque serial, or a short story in four parts. All jargon explained, as far as I know.)

Louis was holding a weather data collection pod on his shoulder, with one hand steadying it and the other brandishing a screwdriver. This he seemed to be using to aid in the attachment of the pod to a special bracket that was more used to carrying weapons than scientific instruments, but he was not having much luck. As Bernie watched, the pod wobbled dangerously, almost escaping her friend's grasp, and there was another torrent of bad language.-or-Louis sets Bernie an engineering challenge, and is surprised by the results.

The twinkling jewels that littered the heavens were so serene, and a feeling came over Louis that it was a little too serene to be real. Slowly, as though he had been subconsciously waiting for the sound, he noticed that the single engine of the Cessna was making a slight sputtering sound. As he turned his head slowly to look at the source of the noise, a thin ribbon of white smoke lead his eyes to it. His eyes widened as he watched the ribbon grow, and start to blow erratically over the windscreen.-or-A simple errand for Commander Hurst begins to turn sour, and Louis takes his first parachute jump. Will they both be alright?
