The crown certainly suits him, at least, even though the pinkish-orange colour of the coral is not something he’d ever have considered to go well with cyan.The door swings open in front of him, and he almost startles at the abruptness of it, jerking his hand back and down to his side. “So,” Scott’s grinning, that grin that makes his teeth look far sharper than they actually are, “you've come crawling back, have you?”“It’s,” he laughs, inching forward, “It’s not crawling back, it’s…sheepishly wandering in.” He smiles a little as he continues to inch his way forward, sliding past Scott and through the rather narrow ‘doorway’ when Scott doesn't move to stop him from entering.-Or, a 5 + 1 where Scott is acting suspicious, and Martyn is trying to figure out why

Ruby had never seen Emerald get poofed before, but he had a relatively larger gem and physical form, so reconstituting himself meant a much greater expenditure of resources than it did for, say, a more disposable ruby, designed to go down often and bounce back quickly.(In which Ruby and Emerald come to a decision.)

Dating someone with difficult-to-read cues and unexplained baggage was incredibly frustrating for Martyn. Ren had been better for him, and to him, than anyone he'd been with before. He was falling so hard for long brown hair and pale blue eyes that it almost scared him.Almost.He wanted this to be so much more, and yet, he'd never dream of pushing Ren beyond his comfort zone...but so sue him if he had his fantasies. Yet when they held hands, Ren was always so tense, and when they kissed, Ren would find some way to keep Martyn's touches from wandering, and it could never get past this brick wall halting the vines. Vines with all the roses and thorns that Martyn supposed comprised him at this point. When he sees Ren slipping off down a side alley after his boyfriend had claimed he was going to visit family for the evening, his concern drives him into pursuit.Pursuit to a place he didn't realize he needed to see and a view beneath redstone circuitry lights he never understood he'd been waiting for.{In which Martyn falls for Ren figuratively and literally, Ren gets several safety lectures, and at least the redstone circuitry brings out the blue in his eyes.}

It was all quiet around the campfire. Martyn was mentally rehearsing some words he’d been thinking to himself for the past hour they’d been headed through the trees in near silence. Between Ren dragging him along, and Scott and the avian trailing behind them, they weren’t exactly in a social mood as they’d been fleeing that encounter with the paladins.Which, all things considered, had gone about as well as they probably could’ve hoped. But it had also left him with this strange gathering. A runaway mer and avian could be a huge liability...or an asset, depending on how you spun it. Martyn was typically good at spin-doctoring, even in his own head. There was so much more to deal with, though.Ren. Ren, Ren, Ren...Ren's smile, Ren's eyes, Ren's barely-there chuckle that, Martyn might be going crazy, but it sounded a touch louder, went on for a bit longer, than last time. A mer with an attitude, an overprotective avian, and...Ren. All of it was a lot...but Martyn didn't think he could claim they were unbearable.{In which Ren is feeling light, Martyn is feeling light-headed, Jimmy is playing a connections game, and Scott forgot to mention that he's been in his underclothes this entire time.}

Martyn is the sweetest, funniest, smartest person Ren knows and he wants so badly to give him gift after gift after gift and make him dinner and have his back in battle and cuddle in bed and … well, that’s the problem. Ren doesn’t want anything more than that.But Ren is nothing if not a romantic, and he just can’t help the swoop in his belly that he feels every time he sees Martyn.
