When Jeannie turns her head, pointing out at the milk bottles in the stream, and the sunlight falling through the window curves around tawny curls framing her face.

It was purely a formality.Still, the last time he'd come this way, it had been in full (and fully mistaken) knowledge that his feelings weren't returned, and that he therefore had nothing to lose. Today, he had everything to lose. His heart was pounding, and Bash had asked him, sounding completely serious and actually concerned, if he was going to faint before he'd left home. Gilbert still wasn't sure he wasn't going to, and idly, he wondered just how much he'd fall in Matthew's estimation if he crumpled to the floor of Green Gables mid-speech.---------Gilbert goes to Green Gables to ask the Cuthberts' blessings to court Anne, and gets maybe a little more than he bargained for.
