He didn’t know when the other man decided to lie on his bed next to him, or when he had fallen asleep, or when they stopped talking only to bask in the snug coldness of the room and the pleasant odor of Rutile’s herbs. The teacups they used sat on the tray, one completely empty and the other with only a little left. Mithra had only snapped out of his thoughts when a particularly loud thunder made itself and the now on-going storm known. the night is cold but mithra is not.

Constants

by cherubiz

It wasn’t until the sun had almost completely disappeared from the horizon that the corpse began to stir. At first Mithra believed he’d just imagined it, but the neck seemed to be reattaching to its lost head. At a loss, Mithra just watched as the once-dead wizard’s body mended itself. Then light returned to his eyes, and they became alert once more. Mithra watched his hands suddenly come up to his neck as he gasped, as if to reassure himself that his head and body were one whole. In the moment right after, those two bright red eyes immediately locked with Mithra’s own green ones.Mithra blinked. That wasn’t how it usually went. How odd.—Many things have changed over the course of 1500 years, but killing Owen has remained a constant. (Alternatively, a few times Mithra remembers Owen at the Lake of Death.)

“I am smarter than you, of course,” Mithra continues. “But I would be interested to hear what you know. You should have a curseworking lesson and invite me.”Faust stares at him.“Perhaps we could also discuss where you got your hat so I can buy one, since you won’t give yours to me, and when I’ve tried to steal it something always impedes me.”Faust’s face settles into a frown.Mithra stands. “In fact, as you are free, we should go right now.”“Huh?”“Arsim.”

an unchanging affection

“The Sage is warm and he smells very nice. He makes my face uncomfortably hot. I like petting his hair while I’m falling asleep and he fits comfortably in my arms. He makes interesting noises when I kiss him. He probably knows me better than most at this point; I enjoy his company and it would be troublesome if I could no longer see him.” Mithra blinked slowly. “Is that what you wanted to hear?”Or: Mithra tries to plan a date in 7.6k words
