He loved them so much, they were his family, and the thought of messing up and causing them harm- It was enough to tear Mumbo apart. (Part of a series but can be read as a standalone fic)

Things, as you might imagine, devolve from there.)

Grian knew everything associated with red: danger, anger, aggressive, blood. With all the times he had been scratched up, cut up, and made to be bared for the world to see, he would be remiss not to acknowledge that stuff. He was also terrible with redstone, so add that cherry on top and you picture his aversion pretty well. But maybe there's more to it than meets the eye: courage, security, survival, love. Perhaps a chance encounter might be able to make him see things from a different angle once and for all. And maybe that redstone isn't as terrible as he thought.

Mumbo didn’t full and truly panic until the moment that Grian passed out. Concerned when he arrived to see his friend so clearly in pain? Sure. Upset to find out Grian had been hiding this from him for the entire season? Yeah. Nauseated when he saw the dark bruising and blood spread across Grian’s back? Yes. Bloody terrified when he thought Grian’s previous captors may have something to do with this? Absolutely. But panic didn’t set in until Grian was slumped unconscious in his arms. or, grian’s past with the watchers comes back to bite him in the form of his wings (and his mental state), mumbo wants to be a good friend, doc is traumatized, scar needs a break, xisuma and stress are just trying to keep them all alive, and pearl is… well, is she? or, alternatively, grian wing angst go brrrr

Mumbo wakes, finding himself stranded in a strange, flat world with a glaring red sun always directly above him. He compulsively builds redstone circuits, barely realizing the deadly traps he's creating. When his friends arrive to bring him home, the acts he commits prove how far gone he is and how long it will take for him to return, fully, from the hollow world of the red sun.

"Xelqua was running. He had to run, run, run. He needed to get away as fast as he could so they wouldn’t find him. He needed to go somewhere that was hard to get to. A whitelisted server, a small one, far away." Running away from Watchers, Xelqua ends up on a weird small server where he gets mistaken for Grian, a player he had never heard of before. But there is something wrong with this server as it’s filled with many extinct, presumably bloodthirsty creatures - that are all incredibly nice. Xelqua takes the opportunity and tries to pretend to be their friend, not wanting to be discovered. Watchers have no idea what they had done. I don’t know how to write summaries. Xelqua

There was one thing that Grian found odd about Mumbo specifically that he hadn't noticed up until recently, which he couldn't get off of his mind. Mumbo didn't like to touch people.------Mumbo doesn't like touch and Grian wonders why. Soon enough his curiosity gets the best of him and he asks, which leads to a bet being made, whether Mumbo was able to keep it up for a week. Stay tuned :)

Mumbo looked at the sticky note saying I want to see you burn the world for a long, long moment, blinking in mustachioed astonishment, before saying flatly, "Absolutely not.""Aw, come on," Grian muttered to himself from his vantage point atop the display shelves. He scribbled out another sticky note and crouched, waiting for Mumbo to turn around, then got tired of waiting and sneaked to the side to place the sticky note just to the right of him. It took some effort. The sticky notes were three-quarters of his height, and they kept sticking to his hands.
