Nerdanel and Lalwen in Tol Eressëa at the start of the Fourth Age, discussing kinslaying, family, art and history, are joined by Galadriel who has recently returned from Middle-earth after the Ban of the Valar that prevented her from returning was finally lifted. They eat cake and discuss Gil-galad's parentage. Later, Nerdanel makes a decision. “I am sure this is the reason that they called her Nerdanel the Wise,” Galadriel said to Lalwen. “It took me ages of the world to realise that being a queen would be a fearful nuisance.”
