Pikachu yelped in pain and Ash opened his eyes (when had he closed them?) to see Pikachu be thrown into a rock. “Pikachu, use Electro Ball!” Ash commanded again, tone serious and strained. His mouth was dry and breathing ragged as a primal level of anger passed through him again. It was so much, it was almost too much. Ash planted his feet to the ground and pinched his arm to keep his eyes open and attention on the battle because Arceus, he might lose his mind with how much aura there was now. The aura was suffocating and choking Ash. He couldn’t breathe. Every breath he took absorbed more of Lucario’s need to fight, more of the need to destroy. or, Ash's battle with Korrina's Mega Lucario makes his aura senses go haywire. Gurkinn notices, Ash and Korrina's grandfather have a talk.

Pikachu was on his mind as he yelled at them again, and this time someone made direct eye contact with him and snarled. Ash glared back, and made to snark some sort of reply, when the chair abruptly tipped back until he was nearly at one-hundred-eighty degrees. He fought to sit up again, but there was enough of a distraction that he lost his chance as the—was it a man?—pressed their hand back against his chest. His head was held still, as much as he tried to whip it around, but it did no good, as two of them worked to restrain it with their hands. Lights flashed uncomfortably in his eyes, and he brought up his hand to block, closing them shut tight. He wanted to scream from the helplessness he felt here, the confusion. What was going on? Why was he here? What were they doing to him? Who were these people? Where was Pikachu?!

His heartbeat speeds up a little, but it’s not like the anger/fear/happiness that usually prompts it. It’s more like…his human’s shoulders slump further, and Pikachu is sure this is loss. Or: Ash journeys. Pikachu watches, and learns.

In relinquishing the power back to the Pokemon of Myth, Pikachu is forced to start over from the day he met Ash, but things are very different. In this new world Pokemon and Humans live as equals and Ash is a Riolu, but still has his dream of being a Pokemon Master. Pikachu starts the journey over where he and Ash can speak and fight together and has to wonder: what else has this changed about the world of Pokemon?
