“Every museum needs a main display,” Dream explains carefully. “The crown jewels, if you will.” And his eyes are back on Tommy, piercing somehow, despite the mask– “Something important, something irreplaceable." His free hand shoots out, landing on Tommy’s arm, and Tommy flinches back. A startled cry gets lost in Tubbo’s throat, but Dream only drags Tommy forward, grip unrelenting despite the way that Tommy tries to pull away, looking like he’s trying to detach himself from his skin, heels dragging the floor, wings flapping in protest, muscles straining, feathers wild– And in a fleeting moment of clarity that cuts through the panic, suddenly Tubbo is able to recognize the contraption across the room, above their heads, what it resembles. Iron pins embedded into the wall the way you would display a hunting trophy, irons pins arranged like-- Like a butterfly board. Or, if the final confrontation had ended differently.

Sam finds Fran, a great pyrenees puppy, when she is less than one week old. Similarly, this is how old Tommy is when Sam finds him. Or- well. Sam doesn’t so much find Tommy as he is called to rescue him; a foster placement turned into adoption. But this isn’t about Tommy. (A lie, of course. Anything and everything is about his little boy.) This is about Fran.

Tommy Theseus Innit has learned a lot of things while being Dream’s main source of food. Not to talk back. Not to complain. Not to ever question what Dream says. Obey the vampires. Among other things.But none of these rules and don’ts prepared him for this. He’d lived his entire life in The XDCoven but because of Dream’s disrespect he was being gifted to another coven to make up for Dream’s behavior. But it wasn’t just any coven. It was TheFirstEmpire, the oldest coven in vampire history! Lead by none other them The Angel of Death himself, and The Blood God. Two of the oldest vampires to exist. Tommy was never good at behaving around anyone but Dream.But now? He has to be perfect. Or else he could very well cause the destruction of his coven.Or: Tommy gets given as a peace offering to Phil and Techno.
