The Newsreader (TV 2021)

Dressed up like a million dollar rover

by fazcinatingreads

Crossover between the Newsreader and football to show the backstory of Rob Rickards, sports news reader at News At Six.The Echuca area is in the Goulburn Valley zone which is the Melbourne demons' recruiting area. Unfortunately for Rob, St Kilda's recruiting zone was Ballarat. Using a character from the Newsreader to highlight what it was like for aspiring footballers in the 1970's/80's probably isn't the best idea (why didn't I just do a backstory on Peter Moore lol), but maybe this could be a several chapter thing where Rob ends up catching the eye of Lindsay Cunningham.

something so strong

by verynearlysouffled

Look, Rob's aware of his reputation at this point and it doesn't typically bother him. Water off a duck's back and all that. It doesn't mean he's actually proud of his big mouth though, especially when he comes across the biggest piece of gossip to hit the News at Six team in months and the pressure is on to keep his lips tight.

Inspired from what Charlie Pickering says at the start of every episode of the Weekly ("i watch all the news so that you don't have to") and I just thought you know what? Noelene would think that's a pretty good idea for the sports news but obviously it would take a bit to convince sport nut Rob Rickards...

Happy boxing day/first day of Easter!!!!I know that it was only recently that hot cross buns came on sale on boxing day, but I can't remember when or how or why so here's a fic in which the idea came about in the 1980's from a very intelligent source who will get a statue of himself and become a legend for many millenia.
