“Uh, I have questions!” Rei said, fumbling. Ash’s Pikachu darted across the campsite, jumping onto Ash’s shoulder with ease. Ash stood still, unflinching at Pikachu’s sudden movement, completely at ease. “Pika?” Ash’s Pikachu said. Rei bit back his grimace. “Questions?” Ash asked. There was a look of wariness in his eyes. “About your Pikachu,” Rei said. “It’s uh, you two are close?” Ash’s expression softened. “Yeah, we are,” he said. “Pikachu and I have been together for years. I trust him with my life.” Something in Rei wailed at the thought. “Yeah, that, exactly that,” Rei said. “How?” “What do you mean?” Ash said. (Ash falls back in time to Hisui. He and Rei chat about Pikachus and what it means to be a Pokemon Trainer.)

“That, class.” Kukui turned back to his class with the smile he had on all morning during roll call and leading them out here. Suddenly something big and red zoomed from the bright blue cloudless skies of Alola and slammed into the dirt. Rocking the ground slightly before a smaller orange one came down and an even larger blur and darker red then the first joined the class. They were all too surprised to even utter a stuttered breath at the sudden appearance of three new large Pokémon they'd never thought they’d see in their lives. “Are Kantonian Charizard.” Kukui finished with his smile as wide as ever.

After failing yet again to find the perfect trainer, Froakie gets an idea. He hadn't had any luck in Kalos, but perhaps he would find the one in another region. In the end, he finds himself in the Kanto region where he's discovered by a small boy with black hair. Finding an unfamiliar Pokemon while playing in the forest isn't exactly how seven-year-old Ash Ketchum imagined he would be spending his Saturday. He certainly didn't expect that the new Pokemon would take to him so quickly either, knowing how temperamental the wild ones could be. But then again, when has his life ever been normal?
