Before Afghanistan, before New York, and long before Siberia, Tony was given the gift of Peggy Carter as his godmother. It was maybe one of the best gifts he ever received, one that kept on giving even forty years later. Because even when the Avengers are scattered, the team and his trust torn apart, there's still one thing Tony has that no one, not Steve, not Ross, not Stane, had ever managed to take from him. A family. In the aftermath of the Civil War, Tony will need them more than ever if he's to pick up the broken pieces of himself again. And save the world. Of course.Inspired by this post

Sharon Carter expected to pull a gun in the line of duty. She didn’t expect to pull it here. SHIELD was her holy ground. -- Some aunts take you to mass, but Sharon’s took her to the shooting range. When Sharon finally met Captain Rogers, she was almost startled at his size. She’d read the comics, sure, but to Sharon, who had heard all the stories (and to Peggy, who had told them), Steve Rogers would always be 5’4” and breakable, had always been a hero. Her mother had told her bedtime stories about Aunt Peggy saving the world. Her aunt had told her stories about a skinny kid who hated bullies, and a crew of wisecracking soldiers who followed his lead—about Steve and Bucky and all the Howling Commandos out to save the day and chase away each of Sharon’s nightmares. Her father told her stories about talking elephants and singing mice who built treehouses together. Sharon carried all of those with her, into the lies of pink nurses' scrubs and the chaos of SHIELD's fall, into everything that came afterwards. But this came first. (A Sharon Carter character study)

“Sharon-” tried Rhodey, but the woman shook her head.“I’m sorry, it was funny at the beginning, but all of us have lost the betting pool by now and it’s just embarrassing watching this things continue,” she informed them, voice decided. She looked over at Tony and Loki, who appeared confused as to where the discussion was suddenly going. “Tony? Loki? You guys are dating.”They stared at her.She stared back.Tony was the first one to speak, blinking in confusion. “Uh, no we’re not. We’re fake dating.”“You aren’t fake dating, at this point you two are dating for real. Hell, you guys are basically married!” Loki glared at her. “Excuse me, I believe that if I were dating Anthony, I would know.”“We believed the same,” told him Thor, shaking his head but seeming to decide to join in with Sharon. “But you clearly cannot tell.”

"Tony - ""I wish I could promise to come home this time," he feels the armor crawl back down his arm, continuing unnoticed over Steve's red gloves, then up the blue uniform as Tony fights to keep Steve's gaze firmly fixed on him. The last eyes Tony might get to see, and he wants to be lost in them. In the end, his entire life boils down a few simple things: "JARVIS, take care of him for me."----------Or, Tony overhears a phonecall where Steve proposes, a battle happens, and a paper ring settles some misunderstandings.

Sharon answered a late night knock at the door and wound up helping Captain America smuggle twelve kids out of DC. She didn't know he'd also loaned his apartment to the most infamous assassin in the world to help him get back on his feet.

americachavez: Marvel give me a short about Sharon’s undercover time as a nurse/Steve’s neighbor and that one time she had to fight off ninjas from Steve’s apartment while he was like, making dinner and sitting alone reading Obama’s biography. stardustandstrawberries: With the music turned up really loudly because he’s a gentleman and he thought the noises were her having sex. - “You vetted my neighbour,” he sighs, “and you read my mail.” The last bit, though, is mostly teasing. “I didn’t vet her,” the agent responds a little testily, “and I’m the only one who weeds the creepers out of your literal and digital mailboxes. Be thankful.” - The wall that separates Steve's apartment from his neighbour Sharon's is very thin. He learns to cope.

Bucky is part of a SafelyHome program where pairs of students walk people home to their dorms late at night. Steve generally hates being looked after... but doesn't really mind when Bucky does it. Bucky can feel his ears turning red. He hands Steve’s backpack over. “Are you sure you don’t want a walk home?” he blurts, and mentally high fives himself for not stuttering. Steve tilts his head, hooking a thumb into the strap of his bag. “Nah, that’s okay. Maybe next time, though." Bucky shrugs and smiles, then retreats to his bench to hide behind Natasha, who’s wilfully ignoring the proceedings to read on her Kindle. He’s mildly aware of Sam and Steve exchanging a hug and having a brief, murmured conversation, then Steve's walking away and Sharon and Sam are both smirking at Bucky like he has a secret and they’re about to painfully and shamelessly exploit it. “Fuck off, both of you,” he says, before they can say anything, and lets Natasha scrub her fingers consolingly through his hair, even if she is grinning at him while she does it.
