This Shin could never truly replace the real thing, and he knew it, yet he couldn’t resist the temptation of loading it up onto his own computer. No matter what he had expected or hoped for, it was simply a display on a screen with that deep blue scarf so neatly tucked around its neck despite the fact that this Shin could never truly feel the wind biting through its thin, bony frame. Hiyori programmed it to be able to feel cold anyways, even if he could no longer wrap his arms around Shin to warm him up, or bundle him in extra layers, or make him a warm bowl of his favorite soup and watch his face light up and take yet another photo of his smile, each more radiant than the last—

You seem too happy for it to be something good.” “Ahaha! See, you are smart!” Emiri smirked at him. “He’s looking for you.” Sou’s heart swelled in his chest. Shin was looking for him! Shin was looking for him! Shin was— “Weren’t you under explicit orders to make sure none of the candidates could prove you exist?” …Ah. Right.
