Not long after Commander Tartar's attempt to destroy Inkopolis and the world is foiled, Agent 3 wakes up from his coma with noticeable disfigurations from having been hijacked by Tartar. Concerned about the effects Tartar's hijacking could have had on Agent 3's noggin, Cap'n Cuttlefish assigns a partner to Agent 3: the Octoling girl who had freed him from Tartar's control and defeated the creature, Agent 8. Although reluctant to have Agent 8 working alongside him, a series of misadventures leads the two agents to begin developing… complicated… feelings for each other.However, trouble is brewing for the New Squidbeak Splatoon and Inkopolis. Although Tartar and his NILS Statue were destroyed, the city soon finds itself falling prey to a string of squidnappings, only for the victims to turn up as Sanitized zombies bent on destroying the world around them.But, with Tartar gone, who could be Sanitizing Inklings and Octolings alike?
