"Cordelia," he called softly, voice low and meant just for her. "Hey, look at me." He waited until he had her complete attention; waited until she wasn't glancing back at the byke between them and kept her eyes completely on him. He gave her a soft smile, his head still ducked slightly as he held his hand lightly on her elbow, letting her feel the heat of his palm through her shirt sleeve. "It's going to be okay," he told her, giving her a small smile. "You're going to be with me, an' I'm not going to let anything happen to you, okay? Trust me. I've got you." Jack watched her as she bit at her lower lip, her shoulders dropping slightly as her dark eyes darted over his face, as if searching for the lie.
