The thirteen months of Valjean's life that begin in February of 1823 mark a period of tremendous upheaval and challenge for him. He goes from mayor and respected business man to fugitive to prisoner to death row to lifer to fugitive to stay-at-home-dad to gardener. He travels from M-s-M to Vars to Toulon to Paris. This is a collection of story fragments that fall during this period. I hope that they may some day coalesce into an actual story.

Valjean leans back in his chair with a smile, happy to half-listen to Cosette and Marius’ cheerful chatter until the boy has eaten enough to take the edge off his hunger. ‘So, Jacques. You said you had a message for me?’ Jacques wipes at his mouth with the back of his hand. ‘Yes, Monsieur. Inspector Javert told me to tell you that he’s stuck at the stationhouse because of – ’ and here he is obviously quoting ‘ – “an unprecedented outbreak of deviant and dangerous behaviour”. He says you should wait for him here.’   Javert gets caught up at work on Christmas Eve.

Or will the world's Worst buddy-cop team of Javert and Marius be able to put their single brain cell together long enough to stop them?(This is inspired by the subplot in the Brick where Valjean and Fauchelevent sneak Valjean into a convent by pulling off an incredibly stupid dangerous heist where Valjean is buried alive, and the brick subplot where Javert and Marius try to be buddy-cops but it doesn't work.)
