“Do you want to talk about it?” Voltari asked softly. “No.” “All right,” he said and simply wrapped the blanket tighter around him. A moment later, Irk sighed. “Some kids were waiting for me after school." Voltari is there for Irk when he gets bullied.

Before all that “Chosen One” business, evil overlords had quite a nice time of it.

For a second Voltari looked like he was going to refuse. He stood there, glaring at Dissectus like he would like nothing better than to storm off in a huff. But they’d never really been able to disobey each other. Voltari is late.

These evil overlords need to talk about their feelings but that's not very evil so, commence a confusing, untrustworthy, kinda mean but slightly affectionate relationship. -Dissectari fic I started writing months ago, I have a plot for it but haven't got around to continuing it. So could be individual stories in each chapter atm.

“Pray tell me, Voltari, why have I just seen that elf’s book on display again? I thought we had dealt with that.” Dissectus felt a muscle in his jaw twitch at the thinly veiled accusation. Across the room from him, Voltari merely straightened his back and finally turned to face Cuddly Dick fully. “We had, but the Chosen One has managed to get back into the people’s good graces. My men and I are already working on–“ Cuddly Dick’s hand shot out without warning. His fingers grabbed the eye piece covering Voltari’s left eye, and Voltari went perfectly still. After Voltari faces the wrath of their leader, Dissectus makes sure he is alright.

In the distance, the door chime rang. Voltari’s eyes snapped open and Dissectus tensed. “Easy there,” he said softly before Voltari could remember and reach for the dagger in his left boot. “It's just the Ninnies arriving.” Voltari sat up with a frown. “Already?” Something warm settled in Dissectus’s chest. This soft, sleepy confusion was a new thing too. “They’re actually right on time,” he said and cautiously sat down next to Voltari on the sofa. “You fell asleep.” After almost two months of living with the Elders, Voltari and Dissectus finally talk and clear the air between them. Sequel to Brave and Tea.

Ho-Tan waited until the tension and pain had drained from his face and his hands returned to his mug before she said softly, “You don’t have to keep wearing your eye piece here if you don’t want to. We won’t mind.” “But I do,” Voltari snarled. A lot lay hidden in these three words – a history of fear, mistrust and loneliness. Ho-Tan couldn’t even imagine hiding the most vulnerable pieces of herself around the other Elders and yet for Voltari it was second nature; terrifyingly, horribly normal. It made her heart ache. A little kindness sometimes goes a long way. Or: Ho-Tan and Voltari share a cup of tea after he and Dissectus seek asylum with the Elders. Sequel to Brave.

“Do you think she’ll be all right?” he asked softly when they crossed the market square. Dissectus sighed. “I hope so.” “She wasn’t much older than Irk,” Voltari noted. “I know,” Dissectus said. On New Year's Eve, Dissectus and Voltari find a little girl selling matches in an alley. A simple act of kindness changes their lives forever.
