"And there; in the blue hours of the morning, amongst the tall island trees and chill dawn air was the shimmer of feathers and the glint of a blade. Bound SMP
by Fireflys_Flight
Vast Ashallow Cadere has lost four partners in as many years working for Obelisk, and all of them have been his fault. It's understandable, in a job as dangerous as his, working to restrain criminals in a world where abilities are as common for people to have as hearts and lungs. This time, he swears it'll be different- this time, he's not going to get attached, he's going to keep them alive and safe.Rune Serpenhold Ventura is looking forward to his new work at the ECDC section of Obelisk, and more than anything, he's determined to do his best, both at his job and at getting his new, offstandish partner to open up. Unfortunately, his intentionally suppressed clairvoyance is beginning to resurface, and he's not liking what he's seeing in the sparks- and there's nothing he can do to change it.Vast didn't want to add a fifth feather to the memorial inked into his back. Rune didn't want to bargain with Fate itself. Virgil didn't want to create a mistake of humanity. Sylph didn't want to topple the world. Pietro didn't want to be a traitor and a murderer. Marcel didn't want to lose the game, or the world, or his humanity. Ashril didn't want to kill another family. But we seldom get what we want, do we?

Takes place right after Vivianna has shown up for the first time. Rune wakes up the next day to grab them breakfast, only for the dangers of Vast's own mind to take over, leaving them along in the dark. Will this set her further back in their healing, or will they be able to get past it, growing stronger, safe from one crazy ex and hiding in the basement of another. My brain is goop while writing the summary but I promise the actual text has been beta read!tl;dr:Silly gay birds not so silly... oopses trauma?
