In contrast to his father's nearly fleeting opportunity to continue the bloodline, Emperor Yuengshin takes after his grandfather Soren instead: he fashions himself as the unwavering and serious reign when Uratha finally conquers Terra Verninsta (success attributed to his selection of a War General...which happened to be the God of War himself, although Yuengshin does not suspect that).The story begins shortly after the success of the acquisition, when a new assembly of military personnel moves into the castle, as Yuengshin deploys his current one to the magi territory to oversee things in the beginning stages. When she finds herself unsatisfied with their knowledge, she resorts to taking small, unattended trips to Terra Vernister, navigating the territory using the novice spells she learned from a stolen magi book.One day, Ajilea comes close to an area that the Death God himself, Rhynis, had been exploring to understand if it did inhibit some connection to his Death Realm, and was what the magi coined as "The Ether".She enters the scene at a time when there's unrest among the magi, as they harbor ill feelings towards the Uratha Empire and its impending forces moving in more than like, violating the "independently-operated" agreement they signed with Yuenshing.
