Who Did What Now?

by dancing_homestuck

“Hey, Zoro, I don’t think I’ve ever asked before – do your earrings mean anything?” Zoro rolled his eyes and turned back to his food, shrugging. “No real meaning to ‘em. Just exactly what you see: three swords. Thought it looked cool.” “What about the other one?” Zoro just grabbed a fork full of rice. “Wedding band.” -- Or, the one in which the strawhats find out that somehow, at some point, RORONOA ZORO, local grump and all around non-romantic, is literally MARRIED

Flashy Brotherhood

by Airuna

Buggy stops at a bar in East Blue and there’s this angry looking kid asking about the Captain. Asking what would have happened if the Captain had a kid. And everyone starts laughing like the idea is ridiculous. Like Roger hadn’t taken in two street rats and given them a home.

The one in which Whitebeard Pirates meet Ace's big brother, and it goes... not as expected. To be fair, though, very few things involving Luffy ever do. (Or, Role Reversal AU, where Luffy is the elder brother.)

trouble is a friend of mine

by taizi

“I don’t buy it,” Pete retorts. “Someone like you? Some cook from East Blue? You’re probably worth a couple hundred thousand bellies at best, maybe a million, if your captain’s somebody.” Sanji tilts his head back so that it rests against the dirty wall behind him. He’s still upright, somehow, through sheer stubbornness or spite. He doesn’t look like someone who only has tonight left to live. In fact, he looks sharp. There’s no better word for it. His expression is still as peaceable as it has been since he arrived, but watching him is like watching a knife slide out of its sheath. He is, abruptly, dangerous. A tool made for cutting. “If you knew where I’ve been, you would be terrified of me,” he says.

make a choice (turncoat hero)

by WhirlyBird70

He takes the kid as Rouge breathes her last, shuddering breath, and goes to turn out the door. Standing in his path is an old friend. "Hand over the child,” Sengoku says, voice even and tired, and Garp has to make a choice. - Or: Garp accidentally becomes a pirate, purposefully becomes a grandfather, and still manages to be a hero in the end.

by adietxt

Zoro doesn’t have a single romantic bone in him, and never once the idea of marriage crossed his mind. At the end of the day, though, marriage is about loyalty, about devotion and faith in something outside of yourself. And that — Zoro’s good at that. Zoro’s a natural at that. (Five times Zoro accidentally proposed to Sanji without even knowing what a proposal is, and one time he gets properly proposed to.)

Garp taught Luffy how to be a marine and uses that knowledge to break into a government facility

by Dezace

Garp wanted Luffy and Ace to be Marines, so he taught them what a good marine should know and how to do it. While Ace and Luffy obviously didn't become marines, that knowledge was, literally, pounded into their heads. With Ace captured and set for execution, Luffy uses that knowledge to bust his brother out of prison.Or: Why Garp shouldn't have taught an upcoming rookie what Marine codes meant because all it led to was the chaos a pirate could use it for.

Unsinkable

by RikoJasmine

The Straw Hats find out that their captain has one hell of a family. When asked about his mother’s whereabouts, Luffy simply grins and throws his arms out, gesturing to the endless expanse of sea around them. With complete sincerity, he replies, “The ocean is my mother!” An AU where Luffy isn’t entirely human, and water affects him differently than other Devil Fruit users.

unintended consequence

by itsmylifekay

Imagine person A making person B a friendship bracelet, expecting person B to never wear it, but when it’s given to them person B puts it on and is rarely seen with it off. A group of marines charge, Zoro slices through them, and in that instant Sanji feels his own eyes grow wide. Because there, on the arm now outstretched towards him, steel glinting in hand, is the stupid bracelet he’d given Zoro. The bastard is actually wearing it.

Twin Flames

by SoccerSarah01

“What was he like when you were younger?” Jinbe asks, looking strangely intent as he stares at Ace. Ace stares back at him for a moment, before leaning his head back against the cell wall and smiling. Memories of him, Luffy, and Sabo running through the forest flash before his eyes, and nostalgia fills him. The months that the three of them spent together are Ace’s most treasured memories. He grins, shaking his head and chuckling as he says, “Well, I guess if I’m going to talk about him as a kid, I should talk about my twin first.”(Or: Ace calls Sabo his twin while in Impel Down and consequences happen.)
