He knows people call it boring and overlook it, but the fact that he's never seen it makes it so mysterious to him....It's also a constant reminder that he hasn't found his soulmate yet. Alba has never seen the color red, but he knows it's amazing by description. People praise it up and down, and he wonders what kind of incredible color it could possibly be.

Ros and Alba reflect on all of the scars the hero has gained during the year Ros was away. "Do they hurt?" Alba smiled knowingly, sadly. "No." Because there was only one that truly hurt, the invisible one that had been carved deep into his heart and soul—the scar that Alba received when his most important person left him behind. Even so, that one was finally starting to heal too.

They had gotten closer over the years. Ross had opened up more. Alba had gotten a little less sensitive. And a particular brand of humour seemed to have developed from it. It wasn't unusually for them to be seen laughing together over some inconsequential reason. The kissing though, that was new.
