Sun-St(r)oked
by nagusa
It’s not very etiquette, Hibari thinks, with his mouth crammed full of sweet chilli crisps. But there’s a spring in his heels and a helium bloom in his guts that he only ever feels chasing Kanato. It must show on his face, because Kanato checks over his shoulder and his expression breaks out like a sunbeam.“How about it, Hiba?” he titters in the elevator, eyes gleaming. With dramatic aplomb: “This is youth.”Hibari is a listener, fundamentally. That’s him, summed up. The music man, the songbird boy ‘built for the stage’. Notes in his bones, whatever. He loves music, but it’s not just music he listens to. He hears everything. Sometimes, he doesn’t know what to do with it.OR: Watarai Hibari, and one very temperamental summer 'vacation'—with far too much Fura Kanato.

Confessions from a Tower Prince
by nagusa
Come morning, Hibari’s anxiety will have died. Gone with a giggle— laughter his birthright— or stood up as a challenge. Before tomorrow, it might sink into his strings and hum sadly through the floor. This choker is a dumb idea— but… if he can restore the sunshine to that silly face a little earlier, being dumb could be worth it. If— if, he likes it— if-if-if— don’t stammer. If it isn’t, y’know. Over the top. Too much. Too… all that. Words you’d find in Akira’s sappy books. It’s fine. It suits him. Or: Wishes disguised in gold and promises wearing leather. How do you learn a language that not even the native knows he's speaking? A story about objects and what they mean to the emotionally blind.

Good Morning, Divine Sunlight
by nagusa
“Either way, it's not like he's going to Heaven or anything. It's too late for that.”Hibari doesn’t speak at first. Shimmering on the cusp between existence and non-existence— a man who supposedly has horns and wings and a long, sinewy tail, just smiles thinly.Hibari is stained with longing, sweetness. Sad but warm; dissonant. Kanato stares. The shadows stretch long as Hibari peels away, withdrawing his hands from his pockets as he leaves the circle of light and closes the gap, settling his palms on slick metal. His presence so silent, the man flinches back when he next speaks, his very existence a whisper Kanato strains to hear.Flickering, like bad memory and starlight.Or: Kanato is an angel who falls. Hibari is a demon killed by compassion. A story about Fura Kanato and the theology of being tender, built on the slow death of faith.

Frets on a Foxglove
by gusami
A sentiment is… an intention? An expression with meaning, fuelled by a belief or a feeling. So does that make a feeling a sentiment? Concern? And in which case, is an unspoken sentiment a feeling? Care? And as Seraph plants one shoe after the other, footfalls heavier than they ought to be, he wonders:Are feelings secrets?𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨? OR: Seraph Dazzlegarden, and the challenge of communicating a secret not even the keeper can articulate. And, of course—Shikinagi Akira, the exasperated hopeful.

Honesty Aversion
by nagusa
On a summer’s Friday night, he has time. With the sky perfect— begging for a horizon shot of the city’s silhouette sinking into velvet. The ideal Friday.“So,” Hibari cranes his neck at Kanato’s phone— it’s already gone dark. “What’s the plan?”Plan? Nothing, really. Just Hibari, standing there bright-eyed and clueless. Probably doesn’t know that Kanato’s plans are vague hopes at best: The taste of toothpaste, not his own. The ghost of lips on his cheek. Or… even a chance of sweat-slick skin—? Nope, not that. But a million other things… give or take. OR: Fura Kanato and a cocktail or two, and a summer night that's a tad too soft.

Meltdown in a Minor Key
by nagusa
What is the definition of a secret? Fura Kanato, who lives a very complex life, would say there's a ranking.1. Things that aren't hidden, but unmentioned: the closet stands blatantly in the room.2. Things lied about to cover up: the location of the closet's key.3. Things that have to be pried from the cavity of one's chest: the closet doors are jimmied open.4. The biology of a secret: out pour the skeletons. OR: Fura Kanato, and the universal human failure to say what we want when we most want it.
