Danny Phantom+2

[obligatory ghost birdwatching pun]

by SnippySchnapps

Crossover with an original story, but knowledge of yesternight isn't needed; Danny meets a psychic. It goes about as well as expected.***But he swallows his discomfort, because he needs answers, and demands are getting him nowhere. “You’re really just… hanging out? In a graveyard?”Leon, in lieu of an answer, holds his book out to danny, open to a double page filled with sketchy drawings of ghosts, both recognisable as animals and not; almost the entirety of the left page is overtaken by whisps and blobs. Danny would be lying to himself if he said they weren’t cute.“...oh. Huh. I guess you weren’t kidding about the sketching.”

Of Ratty Shirts and Beasts (and such and so forth)

by SnippySchnapps

“Th͢ąt̡’̢l̢l b̷e̷ £1̛0͜.͡9́9,” says the towering, eldritch creature behind the till.Mechanically, the customer brings out her purse. She doesn’t realise she’s left her groceries until she’s already halfway across the parking lot.In the store, the creature called Sam is managing to look very much like a kicked puppy. Turning to his co-worker (Jo, says her name tag), he tilts his head, and asks in a very upset voice, “Wa͘s ́i̴t sơm͜et̕h̷i͜ng I s̀aid͢?̨”͝Jo reaches over and pats the part of his shoulder not covered by gold-blue fur in consolation.

Yesternight brainstorming and info dump

by SnippySchnapps

I write a lot of good shit for yesternight, my ongoing project, but never get around to do anything with it when I inevitably end up completely re-working the plot every few months. So I’m going to dump my favourites here.Excerpt: The first thing they notice about the planet is its air - warmer than their homeland, but without the excess ether in the atmosphere, it has a distinctly chilly bite, and they shiver snout-to-tail as their body acclimates; the immediate surroundings smell of grass and mulch and living things, but there’s a peculiar taste on the wind like something burnt or stale; old oil and dust. The second thing they notice is (something slightly below them, standing on the grass) the trees of the forest at their back, bordering the hill they stand on, which (something like static) sway gently and rustle their leaves in the night breeze, (something indefinite, something-)Wait. Stop. Möti Looks. There is something at the bottom of the hill.
