Saiki doesn’t know how long he’ll cling (although 'cling' isn’t quite right, given the deliberate desperation it implies; perhaps 'defer' is a better word) to a youth that doesn’t want or become him. His body seems determined to plod in the same annual cycle, unshakeable. He watches faces narrow, stubble appear, bodies fill out into adulthood. He makes excuses, or lets the excuses make themselves and nods in all the right places ("You’re so baby-faced, Saiki-kun" or, Aiura’s words, "You’ll have to show me what you use on your skin!"). It’s an unforeseen side effect of the time loop, and one he resents. Slowly but determinedly, the world moves forwards - and those he knows (or tolerates) with it. or: as contemplated by suckerforsaikik on tumblr, saiki ages slowly (and i make it less fluffy than originally intended)
