Final Fantasy XVI
trial
by Anonymous
In the wake of Phoenix Gate, Clive fights to keep his brother's throne. For Joshua, it's a trial of loss he cannot keep from repeating. But he will find a way.“I know,” Joshua repeats, as Clive’s fingers settle deeper in his hair, carding out the apology he can’t make. “I know you have to go. If we lose Rosalith, we lose—” Rosaria, he means to say, but Clive interrupts him.“—I lose you. There isn’t a place I could send you on Storm safer than this city.” He smiles. “Allow me to do my duty, lord marquess.” The title sounds funny on his lips.Joshua rises and sorts himself. “I can order you to stay.” He won’t, and he wouldn’t.Clive’s smile tugs to one side. “You can try.”

Letters from Erebor
by Mithen
Selected and edited by Mr. Frodo Baggins from a trunk full of letters and documents bequeathed to him along with Bag End. There are many more letters, particularly from the King of Erebor, Thorin Oakenshield, which are not included. The letters of Bilbo Baggins over this time, while many and varied, are preserved in the archives of Erebor and are not replicated here. The letters excerpted below cover a span of twenty-six years: from Third Age 2942, when Bilbo returned to the Shire from the Lonely Mountain for the first time, to T.A. 2968.

Roads not taken
by sparepartsandbrokenhearts
Going through some stuff right now and this chapter came to me whilst out walking. I've been struggling with writer's block since my last AU, so I am not putting any pressure on myself with this story, especially not in terms of how frequent I post or how long it will be. I am using the "freeform" tag liberally as I did make some minor edits.

precious and fragile
by ohmytheon
After the unexpected deaths of their mutual best friends, Cassian and Jyn must work together despite their differences to help raise their friends’ two year-old son. Of course, what neither one of them anticipated was how their own relationship would change from a tense friendship to something much more. (A Modern AU based on the movie, "Life as We Know It".)

Different Frequencies: The World Through His Eyes
by Dravi_01
The table was a battlefield of noise. Ace shouted, driven by that fierce need to protect what he didn’t quite understand. Dadan argued, her complaints masking a worry that was choking her. Garp spoke from the pedestal of his own certainties, his voice ringing with the tone of a man who had never known doubt. Sabo threw words into the air, desperately trying to lighten an atmosphere that weighed like lead. Everyone was talking. No one was listening. In the eye of the storm, Luffy felt himself fading. He grew smaller, invisible, sinking into a space where his silence was swallowed by everyone else’s volume. No one noticed he was drowning right there at the surface. Then, Garp’s voice cut through the chaos like a blade:"If you could just behave like a normal child, Luffy... maybe Dragon wouldn't have left." The silence that followed wasn't peaceful; it was devastating.Sometimes the world doesn't break from blows or thunder.Sometimes, it shatters into pieces right at the dinner table, between the rice and the regrets.
