Bradley Bradshaw finally arrives at Basic Training at age 25 and meets Jake Seresin, a royal pain in his ass—The men in the bunks surrounding him were already talking, a few louder than most. A blonde sitting across from him seems to be talking to the person above him. Bradley doesn’t want to look, making it obvious he’s been listening in, so he stares at his lap, eyes glossing over.“I’m from Texas, lived on a ranch for the first 18 years of my life until I went to Louisiana state for 2 years to get a bachelors in civil engineering. Then came straight out here after graduation. What about you?”—Pre-cursor to the other fics in this series but can be read as a standalone

Basic Training (in how not to be a jerk)
by truthtakestime
Before he had been Colonel James Rhodes, aka “War Machine,” Rhodey had gone straight from MIT to basic training with a woman called Carol Danvers.“You shouldn’t be here,” he’d told her flat-out within the first two weeks. He’d seen her fall off the ropes course that morning. “War ain’t a place for little girls.”“Then they shouldn’t have let you in,” she’d responded and decked him. That led to one of the most spectacular (if brief) brawls that James had ever been a part of.

Estel Ereiniel and the Five-Year
by LadyAshlaLordBogen
What would happen if Aragorn Arathornion wasn't born in the Third Age, but the Sixth? What if they were born Arathorniel instead of Arathornion? This is the beginning of the story of Estel Ereiniel, a teenager who is growing up and growing into the woman she was born to become. This is the story of a Princess who was born to be a Queen. This is the story of a warrior. This is the story of a person.

Alex Shepard and Reyes Vidal are nearing the end of basic training, and it's time for their land navigation test. Unfortunately, Alex’s biotic field interferes with the compass, someone’s stolen most of his rations, there’s a cliff between them and the extraction point, and no one packed climbing equipment.

Processing
by SLWalker
2240: Processing for Basic Training; a sort of absurd look at some of the policies and procedures that are in place to handle hundreds and hundreds of new recruits, all from the perspective of someone in way over his head.
