Bruce is hospitalized. Jason is anxious. He makes a phone call and learns something new about Tim. - - - Jason had Tim’s phone number for emergencies. As a general rule, Jason was estranged from the Bats, but none more so than Tim. The two of them weren’t close—Jason had his crime empire to build and Tim had Wayne Enterprises to run and that kept the two of them very busy and on opposite sides of the city. Half the reason Jason knew Tim’s routine so well was so that he knew where not to be and when. Time after time after time had he tried to kill the boy, and Jason was a long way away from making up for any of it, but something he could do was stay out of Tim’s way—let the burden of avoidance fall on his shoulders, and not the other man’s. He had already burdened Tim enough. Calling and texting were very much the opposite of avoiding Tim, which is why he didn’t do either too often, instead, choosing a middleman whenever he needed to pass information along to Tim, and making excuses whenever he wanted to call just to hear Tim’s voice.
