Shelter
by Skald
“He likes you,” the guy said incredulously. Lambert looked up from the cat that had just invaded his lap to see someone about his own age - brown hair, the bluest fucking eyes now trained on the cat in Lambert's lap, slim build under his red “Kaer Morhen Wolves” hoodie and black skinny jeans ending in a pair of black chucks. “Course he does, I’m fucking irresistible,” Lambert shot back automatically with a snort as he continued to pet the cat who had stopped posturing and instead made itself comfortable in his lap, seeming for all the world like it intended to stay there. As if sensing Lambert’s thoughts, it flicked its single yellow eye up at him and yawned as a deep rumbling purr starting up somewhere in the depths of all that orange fur. Lambert gets dragged along when Eskel gets called in to an emergency at the local animal shelter he volunteers at. He didn't expect to meet someone there, he especially didn't expect to bring someone home...

Melt
by Skald
Lambert relaxed into the hot water with a groan, sinking beneath the hot spring's surface until the water was just under his chin. His eyes slid shut in pleasure as he felt all the aches and pain and stiffness practically dissolve from his joints and muscles, just soaking up the warmth and letting it melt away the cold. Blindly he reached out a hand to scoop up a handful of snow from the edge, dumping it on top of his head to counter the rising heat, the play of temperatures one of life's true simple joys. "Feels good, doesn't it?" Geralt asked over the sound of splashing as he slipped into the water nearby.

Burn
by Skald
Lambert looked down at the spidery handwriting sprawling across the pages of the old leatherbound journal spread out on his lap. It had been one of many similar finds Lambert had discovered prowling through the remains of Kaer Morhenl's library, on the lookout for anything of its sort. Anything that might give away the school's secrets if it fell into the wrong hands. It was large - nearly the size of an accounting ledger. In a way, Lambert supposed that's what it was. Day Six... Samples are still undergoing tests, but I believe that despite another year of disappointments, the results will prove my hypothesis correct that we are getting very close to replicating a successful formula. However, I hold no hopes for subject two despite being the last of this batch still remaining. He has become quite pale and almost all of his hair has fallen out now. Surely it is only a matter of time...

Snow Friends
by Skald
Lambert looked at the collection of snowmen and women and kids he’d built in the garden. Some stood by themselves, some in little clusters - almost like families. He scowled at that idea, then hissed at the flare of pain. Lambert scooped up a mittenful of snow and held it to the black eye the other kids had decided to give him that afternoon. “Lambert builds snow friends, ‘cause he’s got no friends!” they’d laughed, throwing snowballs at him with rocks packed inside that hurt almost as much as the truth of their words. Lambert hates the cold.

Remade
by Skald
Lambert had his mother's eyes. Everyone had always said so, ever since the day he'd been born and first opened them to the world, all bright and shining and new. In everything else - nose, chin, even his fucking hairline - he was the spitting image of his bastard of a father. Except for his eyes. But then he'd been drug kicking and screaming to Kaer Morhen, and they'd had to go and take the one thing about him that made him like her, and instead made him just like them. Just one more witcher in the world; one more monster for the humans to fear.
