what's an evil fear god to a non-believer?

by ceruleancats

Martin Blackwood, avatar of the Web, has been given a simple assignment by the Mother: get rid of the newly appointed Archivist by whatever means necessary, ideally by rescuing him from the Eye and converting him into a servant of the Spider. This is slightly complicated by two things: 1. Jonathan Sims hates spiders. 2. Despite the many things he's seen/heard/experienced that would fully convince even the staunchest of skeptics, Jonathan Sims does not believe in the supernatural.

Stuck Somewhere in Between

by Twisted_Silver

ON INDEFINITE HIATUS There still was a creature, passably human but not quite, that was called Michael. They were related to Michael Shelly in the same way that someone who is thirty was related to the person they were when they were sixteen, and the person they were when they were eight. Still absolutely the same person, and absolutely not at the same time.     AU where the Distortion spits Michael Shelley out after Helen, only he's still a spiral avatar, has a lot of trauma to unpack, and isn't happy about anything that's happening. Ms Helen Distortion is his weird friend/sibling/parental figure. Jon can be a bit of dick sometimes. Martin is there.

The dance of the spider and the flame

by Taniushka12

The Desolation and The Web were known enemies, although neither Tim nor Martin cared for such technicalities, but then again while there were times the Desolation accepted (and, dare I say, almost admired) the latter, there were times when their avatar's goal was the same. And they could find some peace among the manipulation and the destruction.(Also, Elias? Fuck that guy)

Ok, so, maybe Martin lied a little too well on his CV. It's not like he expected to become Head Archivist of the Magnus Institute, though! Nor did he expect to fall for two of his assistants, have to stop those assistants from getting themselves killed for the sake of not ending the world, develop powers alongside them, or have to find a way to prevent the apocalypse... Lying gets you nowhere, kids, remember that.

all that time, never truly seeing

by takethebreadsticksandRUN

This is the story of a little boy raised in darkness and knowledge, a man with only one weakness, and three very important adventurers.Who are they?A man made of fog and kindness, a woman who was not quite sure who she wanted to be yet knew who she was, and a man whose smiles could outshine the stars.Jonathan Sims was not a lonely child. He does not remember being one. All he remembers is a life spent among the books. He wouldn’t have it any other way. That is, until one very fateful adventure, involving a sword-fighting horse, a gentle touch, and finally deciding for himself what his future was going to be.

I'd Like to Think So

In the aftermath of it all, Sasha and Tim wonder if things could have gone differently.--“You can’t keep doing this...”“I think I can keep doing what I want, Sasha,” he bit out, “And what I want to do, is ignore everything that isn’t my Indian curry right now.”

Tim and Sasha go all out in Artifacts storage listening to Danse Macabre, silent disco style. Elias "Killjoy" Bouchard interrupts them.--“I know quite well what you two are doing,” Elias continued, patiently, “But that isn’t what I asked. I asked what you two thought you were doing.”“Shouldn’t you know that too?”“Answer the question.”“Or what?” Tim scoffed out, “You’ll sic Jon on us?”

Sasha remains rooted to the floor, steadying herself as the thing inside of her rages. 'There is nothing for you back there,' it says."I know." She places a hand to her heart and closes her eyes. "I am not looking for anything for myself. Just a man who is missing." She pauses, then her fingers curl around the fabric of her dress. Quietly, hesitantly, she adds, "A friend who needs my help," and hopes that it is true.(When Jon goes missing when attempting a ritual of the Beholding, Sasha is asked to return to the Archives to help find and save him.)
