The combat drone given to engineer Evangeline Shepard is a sophisticated piece of equipment, and there aren't a lot of safeguards isolating it from other systems in Shepard's omni-tool or within Normandy's servers. First it starts interfacing with Legion, then it accesses her translator apps. When Shepard's combat drone starts on the same journey the geth took centuries ago and EDI took just a couple of years previously, Evangeline Shepard decides to run an experiment . . . and help it instead of immediately defaulting to a preemptive strike. ME2/ME3 continuity, mixed media poetry, prose, dialogue, and experimental technique, with multiple POVs. Different universe from my Disaster Zone/Sometimes Grace stories, and the Shepard/Garrus and Joker/EDI pairings are relevant but also background and tangential.
