"I'm Glad We Took The Canal That Morning, Tobes"
by emwrites19
Jim went back in time after his friend died and let Toby become the Trollhunter. He took a lot of big hits for his friend--he made sure everything would work out in Toby's favor. Toby didn't have to become a half-troll because he and the team snuck into the Darklands and defeated Gunmar before the Gumm-Gumm could escape, Toby hadn't met with the Green Night and gotten a magic shard in his chest because he never had to leave Arcadia in the first place. So many things had changed, but one thing that hadn't changed, simply because Jim couldn't change it for it was a set moment in time: the Arcane Order still raised the Titans.Though, he wasn't upset about this because Jim had known, even before he went back in time, that someone had to die. Not everyone lived through war after all, and that was why he'd made sure the amulet knew to pick his friend. Because if someone had to die, Jim was going to make sure it wasn't Toby, the boy didn't deserve it. But Jim? Jim had already lived a life of fulfillment, he'd sacrificed himself more times than he could count. So what was one final time?
