“Now get in the water.”There’s something almost casual to Poseidon’s tone.“Get in the water.” Harder, now; the sea curls noose-like around his ankles. “Get in, dear king,or I’ll raise the tides so high all of Ithaca will die—” —and he finds that he cannot see the sky through the rising waves, and he thinks that maybe this is too fitting an end for a child-murderer, betrayer of promises, the ender of those who did not deserve their fates, and maybe his men would understand if he does this for their families and friends and Penelope—“—get in the water.”Odysseus is tired. He obeys.(In a world where our hero is just that bit more worn down, his story goes down a different path.)

'“Wake up, wake up! Jon, Jon, Jon, wake up!” he manages to choke out. Jon doesn’t stir and Martin winces. He leans back and strikes him hard across the face and the archivist groans, opening his eyes.He didn’t used to have so many eyes.' (n.) an object serving as a warning or reminder of death; latin for "remember that you have to die"It was clear he'd run away. There'd been a note written sloppily on a piece of notebook paper in Danny's chicken scratch handwriting, but it hadn't said much. Just that he was sorry and that he didn't want to hurt anyone. Generic, really. Tucker hated hero complexes.

There's rules aboard ships, one like 'all dragons must sleep in the middle of the upper deck so the ship doesn't sink'. He can hear down into the galley though, and to the crew's quarters. They tell stories. They speak of the Kings and Queens of Old. His heartbeat thuds in his ears, matching the wardrums that beat through the ages to haunt the halls of a wooden ship. His cousins aren't human, that's for sure.

Beyond the Blackwall was the domain of gods and monsters. So it has always been, ever since the disaster known as the DataKrash sundered the Net and reduced the world to a shadow of its former glory. Netwatch knew this, and so did the governments and megacorps. And so for a time no one dared to overstep their bounds, knowing what waited on the other side. But time diminishes all memories, and eventually humanity looked towards that forbidden realm once again. Who cared if those that lurked behind could bring about another apocalypse when there were riches to be found? Someone was bound to make a mistake eventually. And so a being built to fight wars for a long defunct megacorp followed the path that had been foolishly opened for it to the other side of the Blackwall. They say that there are no happy endings in Night City. Does that saying apply to things that were never human to begin with?
