The one the hero would always have to cross in old fairy tales. Foreboding had pounded in his veins every step the hero took forward, but by the time he had reached the middle, it was obvious to deduce it wouldn’t be worth it to turn around anymore. Looking anywhere but straight ahead had made the hero’s hands clammy and suddenly he couldn’t walk right anymore because what if he made a misstep and plummeted to his death? However, when the hero got to the end and received the treasure or saved the princess, the peril would’ve been worth it. That was no different than how he felt when he got to cheer up Komaeda on a bad day or got to see him on a great one. He’d willingly cross a thousand of those flimsy bridges just to see his smile again and he had no idea why.

Naomasa deflated, the tension evaporated from him as a hand on his shoulder grounded him. “You have no idea.” The muddled words that fell out of his mouth barely even registered in his brain. He let his head drop, his chin to his chest. “Was the meeting that bad?” Should I have come with you? went unsaid, but Naomasa was appreciative of the sentiment nonetheless. He shook his head. orTsukauchi is starting his investigation on the new underground analyst, Virdi. Only one problem, he's obviously a middle-schooler.

It’s the actual date of Halloween and the Tuesday of Homecoming week, which makes teaching especially tedious for Jughead. Early in the day, he receives some life-changing news on his way to help Betty with the Blue and Gold reboot. Then, Betty and Jughead discover a surprise in the classroom before beginning part two of their long-awaited conversation. Later, after taking the twins and their friends trick-or-treating, they cope with unwanted guests who expose the existence of the Bughead betting pool.This was written for the Riverdale Promptathon, Week Eight, using the following prompts: Anxious (definitely the main one); I wanna feel a different kind of tension; Brown; and the Pembrooke. This story takes place after the events of the first seven in the series. I don't think it's essential to read them first, although there are some references to those events.
