For so long it was the two of them, aching without the third, renting a single room, sleeping on the one mattress on the floor, eating rice and instant noodles and sweet potatoes for weeks on end, skipping on food then bus rides then rent to keep their phones on because Yoongi had their numbers and he might call. That's in the past now - Namjoon and Hoseok have stable careers and a beautiful, wild mess of a family with four others, and they hadn't heard from Yoongi in years. Then something breaks, something changes, and ~surprise we brought home a new (sick) roommate.~Or, "the thing where it breaks your heart to have to leave behind someone you struggled and suffered with, and you just want them to be happy and safe with you now that you have that because you love them desperately, and then you get the chance to make that happen" meets "the thing where sometimes you get sick and you don't get better". I think this is mostly about loving someone and caring for them and the beauty of found family in a profoundly harsh world.
