the tin can man
by Marcellebelle
Ed loves his little brother. Their dad isn't exactly great at the whole parenting thing, but that just means Ed has to pick up the slack. Which is fine. They have each other, and it's not as though he's going to let anything happen to Al; and Ed knows that one day, Al will be an amazing hero.Or:There isn't a world in which Ed doesn't sacrifice everything to save his brother. Aizawa’s grip is almost painful. “It’s going to be okay,” the man says gently. “I’ll protect you.” Despite the fear, his voice is still strong. He’s a liar though. Ed knows he’s a liar. Still, he clings to the lie and wishes desperately that he believed in heroes. Heroes are just people, but if they weren’t, if they were something more, something shining and unbeatable, then perhaps Ed could live out his last moments in hope. But Aizawa is just a man, albeit a good one, and Ed— Ed is a boy slated for death.
