Stiles remembered his mother lazily plucking her own string whenever his father was away at work, and every time she touched it with her fingertips it burst a bright purple. It was only for a millisecond—if you blinked, you wouldn't be able to see it—but Stiles would watch, mesmerized, as he was able to see the string that tethered his mother to his father. It was beautiful.
