By using non-linear flashbacks mixed with current timeline events, these letters and memories fill in the gaps of their relationship. The bulk of the story follows Korra’s long recovery after being attacked by the Red Lotus. Highlighted are Asami’s struggles as she tries to cope with Korra’s absence and Korra coming to the realization that she may see Asami as more than a friend.These chapters show that Korra and Asami trekking off together to the spirit world holding hands at the end of the series was NOT a last minute decision. Their journey getting there was a very long one. Canon compliant.
