Rewind
by Xenophon
Nobody ever asked what happened when they died. It seemed so obvious. People die, then people respawn. Respawns were a part of everyday life. It was simple. Siblings would sword fight at the park, testing the limits of their abilities and seeing who could overpower the other, only to jump right back to their feet and fight again. Slipping off a cliff or falling into lava were nothing but inconveniences that could easily bounce back from. Dying was as natural as breathing. Nobody thought about it.Grian was just like that once. He fought his sister, crashed his elytra, fell in lava, everything. He respawned, just like everyone else. He didn’t ask what happened when he died. He knew. He thought he knew. But when he saw the true limits of respawning, how infinite lives could dwindle down to one within days, how even the simple progression of time could warp into something completely unrecognisable, he was forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about the way the world worked.Three years later, Grian is recovering. He has new friends, a new home, everything. He was happy. And then it started all over again. And this time, Grian didn't have an escape. Not even infinity can last forever.

Infinite
by Xenophon
Nobody ever asked what happened when they died. It seemed so obvious. If you died, you respawned. It was as natural as breathing.Grian was just like that once. He died, he respawned, and he thought nothing of it. Life was infinite.Until one day, it wasn't. He saw how infinite lives could dwindled down to one, and then zero. He saw how time could warp into something entirely unrecognisable in a matter of days. He was forced to rethink everything he thought he knew about the world as he felt the final death coming closer by the second. With the help of his magic, Grian survived. Barely. Did that make him lucky? Unlucky? He didn't know.Three years later, Grian was recovering. He had a new life, a new home, new friends. He was finally happy. And then it all started all over again. And this time, he didn't have an escape.Nothing ever lasts forever. Not even infinity.

I found the concept of modulating a sound frequency into an electric signal strong enough to pace someone fishy. Especially since the only power in that entire system was the cell phone battery. Here's how I would have saved Vasquez.

trifecta tongari toma

Wolfwood arched a brow. “Does the clinic sell packs of twenty?” “Nu-uh!” “You need something for your head?” “Nope.” Vash rubbed the small bump courtesy of the truck’s side mirrors. “Then I’m not interested.” “But it has,” Vash’s eyes flitted skyward in search of some extravagant reason Wolfwood knew he was making the hell up, a spread hand of glass green included, “allure.” Wolfwood squinted up at the sunbeams scattered between Vash’s fingers. “Your definition of allure, tongari, is getting yourself shot up like a pin cushion.” In which Wolfwood and Vash go on a grand adventure involving birds, bars, and bullets.
