Flowers in His Heart
by Ephemeral_Joy
‘Don’t be,’ he said, shaking him head, ‘I was dreaming.’Anne carefully smiled, placing her chin on her palm. ‘About?’Gilbert paused for a moment. How could he reply to that? (“I dreamt about pinning you against the grass and kissing you”, wasn’t exactly an acceptable answer.) Or, he weighed the option, he could work with it.(or: Gilbert and Anne hang out and they definitely do not like each other. At all.)

Once in a Golden Hour
by uwontfeelathing
Part II in the "His and Mine are the Same" series.*****"Gilbert Blythe rested his forehead against the fog-covered window pane - hoping to be able to peer through the condensation within and sleeting snow without to glimpse the dark shape of the platform he knew was ahead. Every chug of the train beneath him felt like the pounding of his heart, his thoughts beating out the same rhythm in his head: Anne. Anne. Anne. Anne. It had been more than four months since he had seen her, and their last meeting still felt as dream-like and unbelievable to him as it had on the very day he had raced through the streets of Charlottetown, the same rhythm pulsing in his veins then, as it was now. Anne. Anne. Anne. The small, black velvet bag in his coat pocket felt as heavy as a brick, aware of it as he was of the unwavering direction of his every thought..."*****(Part I is called "Whatever our Souls are Made Of")The title of this work and chapter comes from the Tennyson poem "The Flower".

by orphan_account
“Of course, I remember it,” she spits out. “You humiliated me. Mr. Philips tortured me.”“Yes,” he says, apology clear in his voice. “I just wanted to say that your hair has never been the colour of carrots.” There’s a silence, and he can’t help it when he leans forwards, looping one of her locks of hair around his finger. It’s soft, and such a vivid red that he wonders how he ever could’ve been so foolish to call her carrots; it’s the colour of everything he’s ever loved in the world, reminds him of the colour his dad’s nose would go in the winter and the setting sun. Anne’s simply staring up at him with wide, shocked eyes and he can’t say those things to her, can’t tell her such things. So, he simply finishes with, “It’s pretty.” -Gilbert Blythe only returns to Avonlea when he is 23, unexpecting of anything except a general feeling of returning home. Falling back in love with a girl he left behind seven years ago was definitely not in the cards.

Whatever our Souls are Made Of
by uwontfeelathing
Gilbert and Anne's correspondence and goings-on.These letters/chapters take place after season 3 of Anne with an E. **BE SURE TO CHECK OUT PART TWO OF THIS SERIES: Once in a Golden Hour! xo***********************************************************It was a heady thing, my darling. I cannot say that I regret kissing you so eagerly (and… ahem… frequently…), but I do hope that my behavior didn’t alarm or upset you. Though, in my experience with you thus far, I can venture with some certainty that had my advances had offended you, you would have let me know, and most definitely not by holding my own face in your soft, small hands, and kissing me back with such… I can almost feel you in my arms now, pulling your waist close to me as you… Pardon me, Miss. I think I’ll go for a quick walk around the block. *************************************************************

To Know What It Would Feel Like
by xxPrettyLittleTimeBombxx
"I hope that you don't think I'm rude, but I want to make out with you-- and I'm a little awkward, sure-- but I could touch my face to yours..."ORAnne is horrified after she has a dream about kissing Gilbert and then subsequently can't stop thinking about it. [now part of a series, but can definitely be read as a stand alone!]

A short story of five times that word meant something special. Inspired by the scene in the tea house. It may sound heretical, but I ADORE the new Anne series, especially their casting choices. Cheers to Shirbert forever.
